Full-arch fixed bridge restoration anchored on 4 or 6 implants are ideal for major tooth loss or low bone density.
A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at the root, not just at the surface. A titanium post is placed into the jaw, the bone fuses around it over the following months, and a custom crown is fitted on top.
The result looks, feels and functions like the tooth it replaced. Unlike a bridge, it does not depend on cutting down the healthy teeth on either side. At Beautica Clinic in Istanbul we plan every implant on 3D CBCT imaging before treatment starts, so the position, angle and bone volume are decided in advance rather than during surgery.
When a dental implant is the right choice
An implant is usually the strongest option when you have one missing tooth, several missing teeth with healthy teeth between them, or a full arch that needs replacing. It is also the standard recommendation when a denture has become loose, or when a bridge would mean grinding down teeth that are still sound.
There are cases where an implant is not the first answer. Active gum disease, uncontrolled diabetes, heavy smoking and very low bone volume all change the plan. None of them automatically rule treatment out, but each has to be assessed first. That is what the initial consultation and the 3D scan are for.
The dental implant systems we use
We work with three tiers, because the right choice depends on bone quality, the position in the mouth and your budget as much as on brand:
- Swiss systems (for example Straumann) — a long clinical history, precise fit, and the usual choice for single-tooth replacements and aesthetically demanding front teeth.
- German systems — comparable engineering standards and a broad prosthetic range, often a better balance of cost and performance for the back teeth.
- Turkish systems — quality domestic manufacturing at a lower price point, suitable for many standard cases and for patients replacing several teeth on a budget.
Which one you receive should be a decision you understand, not one taken for you. We explain the trade-offs during planning and put the name of the system in your treatment plan.
How dental implant treatment in Istanbul is planned
- Consultation and imaging. A 3D CBCT scan shows bone height, bone width, nerve position and how close the sinus is. This is the step that separates a predictable implant from a guess.
- Treatment plan. We confirm how many implants are needed, which system, whether grafting is required, and a realistic timeline for your trip.
- Placement. The implant is placed under local anaesthetic. Most patients describe it as easier than a tooth extraction.
- Healing. Osseointegration, the bone bonding to the implant, takes roughly three to six months. In some cases a temporary tooth is fitted in the meantime.
- Final restoration. The custom crown, bridge or arch is fitted once healing is complete.
Bone grafting and sinus lift before dental implants
If the scan shows insufficient bone, grafting is usually carried out before or during implant placement. This is common in patients who have been missing teeth for years, or who have worn a denture that resorbed the ridge underneath it.
A sinus lift does the same job in the upper back jaw, where the sinus cavity limits how much bone is available. Grafting adds a healing stage to the timeline, so it is better to know at planning than to discover it on the day.
What affects the cost of dental implants in Istanbul
Implant pricing is driven by four things: the number of implants, the system chosen, whether grafting is needed, and the type of final restoration — a single crown, a bridge or a full arch. Because those vary so much between patients, we quote after the scan rather than publishing a flat figure.
What we can say is that the same treatment in Istanbul typically costs substantially less than in the UK, Ireland, the US or western Europe. That gap comes largely from lower clinic overheads rather than lower material standards — provided the clinic you choose is using the branded systems it advertises.
Aftercare after dental implant surgery
Expect some swelling and tenderness for three to five days. Soft food, no smoking, and gentle cleaning around the site for the first two weeks. We schedule a review before you fly home and provide written aftercare instructions plus a direct contact for questions once you are back in your own country.
Long-term success depends mostly on two things: not smoking, and keeping up with hygiene reviews.
Dental implants in Istanbul: frequently asked questions
How long does a dental implant take from start to finish?
Placement is a single appointment of about an hour. The full process, including healing and the final crown, usually runs three to six months. Patients travelling to Istanbul typically have the implant placed on one trip and the final restoration on a second, unless a same-trip temporary is suitable.
Is getting implants in Turkey safe?
The procedure is the same everywhere; what varies is planning, materials and follow-up. Ask any clinic which implant system they use, whether they scan in 3D before operating, and what aftercare they provide once you have left the country.
Can I get implants if I have low bone density?
Often yes, with grafting or a sinus lift. The CBCT scan determines this. Age alone is not a disqualifier.
How many implants will I need?
One implant replaces one tooth. A full arch is usually restored with four to six implants, depending on bone volume.
Will it hurt?
Placement is done under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain during surgery. Soreness for a few days afterwards is normal and managed with standard pain relief.
